Set up your first website in mandera and learn how to get from installation to your first useful insight.
mandera helps you understand what happens on your website, how search engines see it, and where you can grow next. This guide walks you through the first steps, from adding your website to reviewing your first opportunity.
Before you start
What you need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- access to your mandera account
- the domain of the website you want to add
- access to your CMS, tag manager or website code
- access to Google Search Console, if you want to connect SEO data later
If someone else manages your website, create the website in mandera first, then send them the Installation guide.
Setup steps
1. Add your website
Start by adding the website you want to track. Each website in mandera has its own analytics, SEO data, Brand Memory, change history and growth strategies.
Enter your domain in the setup flow and create the workspace for that website. After that, mandera gives you the tracking snippet you need for installation.
2. Install the tracking snippet
Copy the tracking snippet from mandera and add it to your website. The snippet needs to load on every page you want mandera to measure.
For most websites, you can add it through your CMS, tag manager or global site header. If you use WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or another CMS, follow the dedicated steps in Installation.
3. Check if data is coming in
After the snippet is installed, open the analytics suite. Once mandera receives the first visits, you will start seeing traffic, page views, sources and pages in your dashboard.
Use this first view to confirm that mandera is receiving data from your website.
The overview chart shows your traffic over time. Use the pills above the chart to switch between traffic, page views, pages per visit and visit duration.
Each pill shows the value for the selected time range and the percentage change compared to the previous period. The line chart helps you see whether the selected metric is increasing, decreasing or staying stable.
If you do not see data yet, check Installation for verification and troubleshooting steps.
4. Find your first insight
Once data is available, start with the main system areas:
- the analytics suite shows traffic, sources, pages, user flow and audience data
- the seo suite helps you understand rankings, organic performance and keyword opportunities
- the context suite shows what mandera understands about your website, content and brand
- the growth suite turns your data and context into opportunities, strategies and content
Your first insight can be simple. Start by checking which pages receive the most visits, where visitors come from and whether any traffic source or page stands out.
You do not need to understand every metric right away. Start with your most visited pages, your most important traffic sources and the first patterns mandera shows you.
5. Review your first opportunity
When mandera has enough context, the growth suite can surface opportunities based on your website data. An opportunity is a concrete recommendation for where you can grow next.
The Opportunity Radar shows possible growth opportunities as points on a visual map. These can include SEO issues, new keyword ideas, technical fixes or content gaps.
Below the radar, you can review each opportunity in more detail. Each card explains what mandera found, how important the opportunity is and which area it belongs to, such as SEO, content or technical improvements.
Review the opportunities that appear in your dashboard and decide which ones are most relevant for your business.
You can reject an opportunity, research it further or turn it into a strategy.
A strategy is where an opportunity becomes actionable work. mandera can help you research, plan and create content, but you stay in control of what is approved and published.
6. Check that setup is complete
Your setup is working when you can see the first signals across the system:
- your website is listed in mandera
- the tracking snippet is installed on your website
- traffic appears in the analytics suite
- pages and sources show where visitors come from
- website context appears in the context suite
- opportunities appear in the growth suite
At this point, mandera has the first data it needs to help you understand your website and identify where you can grow next.
You do not need a perfect setup on day one. Start with the first available traffic, context and opportunities, then continue improving your setup as more data comes in.
